Hips: Your dog’s hips are guaranteed per PENN hip guidelines for the first 24 months. In order for the hip guarantee to be in effect, the dog must be x-rayed within first 24 months. If it is female, must not be x-rayed around her heat cycle, must be x-rayed by a radiologist who is certified for the PENN hip method. The dog must not have been bred or injured or the guarantee is null. If dog is certified to have hip dysplasia, the owner must submit a copy of the PENN hip report. Your dog’s microchip number must be on file with us. Proof that dog has been spayed or neutered must be submitted to us.
Eyes: are guaranteed against Progressive retinal Atrophy, Progressive Rod-cone degeneration (PRA-prcd).
Other Genetic Disorders: We have a life time guarantee for known to us at the time of this breeding, genetic disorders that can be tested for by Paw Print genetic testing for Labrador Retrievers. This includes only those disorders that threaten the health of the dog. This includes only those disorders that are 100% genetic. This includes only those disorders where environmental factors can be completely ruled-out.
Guarantee depends on positive Identification:
The guarantees above depend on being able to positively identify the dog. The guarantees above are not in effect unless your dog is micro chipped and his/her information is on file with us. No dog will be guaranteed unless it carries the Morgan’s PT or Morgan’s Point prefix in it’s AKC and/or UKC name and has not been transferred to a new owner.
This guarantee is VOID if the dog has been bred.
Food: We recommend a high quality, scientifically formulated, balanced puppy food for the first year, such as Purina Pro Plan Puppy or The Honest Kitchen Puppy . We try to avoid grain free , soy, wheat, peas and corn. A solid protein should be your first ingredient. We have tried many different products, we currently feed Purina Pro Plan Salmon or Lamb No Corn No Wheat No Soy for our adults, and Purina Pro Plan Salmon or Lamb Large Breed Puppy No Corn, No Wheat, No Soy. The cost is a bit more, but typically the dog does not require as much and will be healthier in the long run. It is important for your dog to keep a healthy weight for it’s body structure. We also recommend adding real whole foods as a topper to your dogs food.
– There are a few good training programs out there that we encourage our owners to research and implement as soon as your puppy comes home. A few of the programs we currently like include “ Standing Stone Kennels Puppy Training”, you can view their program on You Tube. “Purina Proplan’s Wildrose Way Puppy Training with Mike Stewart “, also on You tube. Each of these have books and programs you can purchase as well.
This guarantee does not include viral illnesses, infections, improper bites, hernias, hypoglycemia, Giardia, parasites, worms or Coccidiosis. It also does not include any illness due to the ingestion of foreign objects, food, chemicals or physical injury.
We do not guarantee against worms and parasites. Our dogs are hunting dogs, athletes as well as human companions that like to swim in lakes and rivers, romp through the woods and fields, roll in, smell, taste and eat dead, foul smelling stuff. Stuff left behind from deer, turkeys, cows, horses, rabbits, chickens… you get the picture…. that being said, we have an aggressive ongoing deworming program for our adult dogs here at Morgan’s Point Ranch, as well as for our new puppies. We use Pyrantel Pamoate (Nemex 2) and Fenbendazole (Panacur). Puppies get dewormed every two weeks until 8 weeks, then we require new owners to follow up with deworming with each set of new shots the puppy gets, and more often if they are exposed to stuff, use your good discretion. We expect you to have chosen a sporting/working dog friendly veterinarian prior to getting your puppy.
As a responsible new owner please make sure you have a secure fenced yard or kennel to run your dog, do not let them out unsupervised.
We strongly urge you to spay or neuter your new puppy by around one year of age. No breeding unless you have obtained breeding rights by special agreement from us and only to certain established breeders that meet our qualifications with their breeding program. We have worked hard to build our program, we are small but we do take this seriously, please respect this.
AKC registration is Limited :
Limited registration is for people and dogs that are going to be pets, hunting companions, even hunt test or other AKC or UKC sanctioned event contestants. They will NOT however, be used as breeding animals.
The dog with the Limited reg. papers IS registered! The only difference is that his or her PUPS CANNOT be registered.
The dog cannot be bench (dog show) conformation shown since this is a “show case” of breeding animals only. They can enter and gain points and titles in “activity” related events, such as hunt tests, field trials, agility, fly ball, dock dog, etc…..
Limited registration came about when AKC found out that breeders were withholding registration papers from pups that went to non-breeding homes. When the new owners would apply to AKC for new papers (some doing so because they went ahead and bred their dog anyway), they found that they could not since their dog was actually still registered in the breeders name….
AKC investigated and found that the breeders were not trying to be fraudulent or mean, they were just trying to protect the breed and their breeding lines against puppy mills and back yard breeders.
AKC came up with the Limited papers to help breeders selling non-breeding dogs to the public without having to keep those people from entering activity events with their dogs.
Full Registration ~ Full reg. is for breeding stock dogs and those that are being actively shown in the bench (dog show) conformation ring. Period.
If you ARE NOT a breeder, you DO NOT need full registration on your dog. The only difference between Limited and Full reg. is that with Full registration, the papers that you get are bordered in purple instead of orange, and IF your dog has pups, they can be registered with either Full or Limited registration.
Rehoming: If for any reason in the future you are not able to keep your Morgan’s Point Lab, please contact us, as we appreciate the first opportunity for rehoming. We understand life changes and priorities change! Thank You!
Guarantee: If a problem is covered by our guarantee: We, Jim and Andrea Morgan, will replace the puppy with another pup from a similar breeding of our choosing, when available. Travel costs or shipping to return your current dog to us are not covered.
Any legal matters or disputes shall be handled in Stevens County, Colville, Washington.
